Sympathies to Lloyd Brevett; Son Shot

Our deepest sympathies and condolences go to the family of Lloyd Brevett and his family as they deal with the loss of his son Okeene Brevett just hours after collecting an award on behalf the Skatalites at the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) Awards held Saturday night. Okeene Brevett was shot dead in his home community of Seaview Gardens in St. Andrew early Sunday morning.

The Observer says: Police report that approximately 1:00 am, Brevett was walking in the community, close to his home, when he was pounced upon by armed thugs who shot him. He died on the spot.

A JaRIA official said he was told that Okeene had taken the award home, showed it to his father and other people in the community, then left his home to celebrate when the tragedy occurred.
